Fall Wedding at The Pavillion at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park

Yay! It's time to share Shannon and Collin's mid-September wedding at the Pavillion at the iconic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. I have photographed events and weddings on the Longs Peak Lawn as well as inside at the Music Room, the Concert Hall, and the Pavillion. The Stanley Hotel is one of the most recognizable venues in Colorado and it's always a privilege to be trusted to do it justice.


The Pavillion itself is gorgeous and unique - from the upstairs deck looking towards Rocky Mountain National Park to the glass door auditorium. The glass door opened JUST before Shannon walked down the aisle (well done to their planner, Lindsey Sachs for creating this magical moment!) Many photographers will tell you that the wall of windows can be difficult to capture because the ceremony is very backlit. (We see the same thing at Black Canyon Inn in Estes Park!) But a few video lights and creative angles allowed me to capture it evenly and beautifully, preserving the true skin tones of the couple as well as the true colors of nature outside. It's also VERY fun to move around the rocks outside for shots!


Shannon's Galia Lahav gown had the largest train I have ever worked with and she was GORGEOUS! If wedding dresses had royalty, she would be their queen. The lace sleeves played especially well with the aesthetic at the main hotel. We even lucked into a perfect window on a September Saturday where there were hardly any tourists and no tours in front of the building at the exact moment we wanted to be there - saving me tons of Photoshop :)


Note for couples: If you want to walk to the main hotel it only takes 5 minutes and a few stairs - but MAKE SURE you bring the venue coordinator with you! Even if you have a room booked at the main hotel they very likely will not let you take photos on the staircase without someone from the Stanley with you. Tell your photographer - or heck, book me!! I have worked at the Stanley many times and have lots of favorite spaces and tips/tricks for memorable photos. And shout out to Heather for being that person for us at Shannon and Collin's wedding.


If you are planning a wedding at the Pavillion at the Stanley I can't recommend the dream team below enough. All of these vendors do wonderful work, ESPECIALLY Collective by Sachs and A'Florae!! Ugh, I love you two so much.
