As I drove south towards Colorado Springs on a clear day in late October the summit of Pikes Peak was shrouded in clouds. It had snowed the week before and the foothills below the 14er were still dusted with snow. Continuing up the Pikes Peak Highway it was clear that the 'dusting' of snow on the lower mountains was nothing compared to what remained above 12,000 feet. Parvinder had planned to propose to his girlfriend at the summit but we quickly changed our plans, agreeing to meet at the highest point we could reach. Sure enough, the summit was closed due to wind and snow - but we were able to drive to where they had blocked off the road at 13,000 feet! When he finally dropped to one knee it took a moment for the surprise to wear off before I could hear the words "it's so beautiful, bubba" and a "yes!" It was 34 degrees before wind chill at that altitude, but you can bet those gloves never went back on again because who wouldn't want to stare at such a gorgeous engagement ring?!
This gorgeous winter Pikes Peak proposal was photographed as an associate for my friends at Apollo Fields.
